06. Branding

Branding is incredibly important for every small business, it's how people remember your business and connect with your brand’s identity. At a flea market, this also applies. Branding can look like printing out signage with your logo, promotional materials (i.e., business cards, flyers, stickers), branded price tags, and printed fliers with your social media (i.e., Instagram QR code).

In a physical shopping setting like Soul Real Market, there are a couple of branding strategies you can easily implement.

01. Visual Hierarchy

At markets, you want to ensure that there are elements of branding at every visual level (i.e. eye level = high, chest level = medium, table = low).

If you're able to, having a big, eye-catching sign that can be seen from a distance is a great example of eye-level retail design. For chest-level items, use display or garment racks to clearly showcase your inventory and bring it closer to your customers. At the low level, include branded price tags (with your logo and business name/socials), business cards, and small signs.

02. QR Codes

Framing a printed QR code for your business's social media/website is a great way to build a loyal customer base. When a customer likes your store and products, it is easy for them to take out their phone and scan to follow your shop.

It is also important for you to have a framed, printed QR code of payment methods. However, if you do not have the time or resources to print it, take a screenshot of the QR code for the payment method of your choice (i.e., Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, etc.) and set it as your lock screen and home screen for quick access.

03. Stickers

Stickers are an effective way to promote your brand, especially when you get creative and go beyond just your logo. Get creative with your branding, including cute graphics and slogans that can easily resonate with your customers. A free sticker with every purchase goes a long way, people love using stickers on their water bottles, laptops, etc.

04. Branded Packaging and Tags

Branding goes beyond your logo and business name, it includes your shop’s aesthetic, colors, etc. When people purchase a piece with your attached tag, they're more likely to remember your shop than with an unmarked price tag. The same goes for going the extra mile with branded shopping bags instead of just a regular plastic bag.
